What a great reminder. Whether you're a parent or teacher, those little eyes are learning by watching you.
Today marks our first finished week of the 2014-2015 school year! We have had a fantastic start. Our Ridgeview PTO was kind enough to provide coffee and refreshments for parents as they dropped off students on the first day of school. It has been wonderful to see so many familiar faces and receive hugs and high-fives from all the kiddos.
This year is going to bring about some fun new changes to the school counseling program at RES. There has always been individual and group counseling; however, this year I hope to expand my work into the classroom much more. I'm also going to be doing school-wide initiatives each month. In September we will be kicking off the year with Second STEP-Tember. We will focus on our SEL program Second Step! I look forward to going into the classrooms the next few weeks and doing my introduction lessons. I love going and dressing up like a ladybug, because I'm the lady you come to when something bugs you. Please remember you can contact me if you feel like your child would benefit from individual counseling. Another reminder, 3rd-5th grade students can refer themselves to see me. In many cases these are one time visits, and parents will be notified with a note home. If a self-referral needs to be more than a one time visit then I will make a call to mom or dad. |
